Position Summary
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety, supervision, and well‑being of all pool users during swimming lessons, activities, and recreational use. The role focuses on accident prevention, emergency response, and maintaining a safe pool environment in accordance with school safeguarding and safety policies.
When the pool schedule allows, the postholder will assist PE lessons with supervision, basic organisation, and safety support, as directed by the PE teacher.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pool Safety & Supervision
Maintain continuous and vigilant supervision of swimmers at all times
Enforce pool rules and safety regulations consistently
Take immediate action to prevent unsafe behaviour
Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including rescues and first aid
Report all incidents, injuries, or concerns according to school procedures
2. Water Quality Monitoring
Conduct routine pool water testing using provided test kits (e.g. chlorine, pH) according to the agreed schedule
Accurately record test results and promptly report any readings outside acceptable ranges, or any water quality concerns, to the Pool Technician or designated technical staff
3. Pool & Equipment Management
Ensure rescue equipment and safety tools are available and in good condition
Carry out daily visual checks of the pool area and report hazards or defects
Support cleanliness and order in the pool area before and after use
PE Lesson Support (This support role does not include independent teaching or curriculum delivery)
Assist PE teachers during lessons with student supervision, basic organisation, and safety support, as directed
Help with setting up and clearing away PE equipment when required
Support smooth lesson transitions and supervision, particularly during large group activities or combined classes
4. General Responsibilities
Assist with swimming lessons and school aquatic events when required
Attend required training, briefings, and safety drills
Perform other reasonable duties related to pool safety as assigned

Expected Profile of Candidates
Essential
Valid Lifeguard certification
Cambodian only
Ability to communicate in English
First Aid and CPR certification (locally or internationally recognised), or willingness to obtain upon employment
Physically fit and able to perform rescues and prolonged supervision duties
Strong sense of responsibility, attentiveness, and commitment to student safety
Willingness to support PE lessons when pool schedules allow, under the direction of PE teachers
Desirable
Good communication skills and flexibility
Ability to work in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision
Experience working in a school, childcare, sports, or aquatic environment
Basic understanding or interest in physical education and sports activities
