2) Curriculum, Assessment & Data

• Stay up‑to‑date with national/international curriculum developments; adapt content and pedagogy to meet parent expectations and local trends.

• Oversee assessment, tracking, and reporting systems; use data insights to inform differentiation, interventions, and strategic planning.

• Organise and coordinate entries for public examinations (IGCSE/A‑Level or equivalent) and administer internal assessments (design, setting, invigilation, marking, standardisation, moderation).

• Ensure fieldwork (e.g., geographical investigations, historical site studies, business enterprise visits) is planned, risk‑assessed, and embedded into programmes of study.

• Provide accurate information on Humanities courses for internal/external publications (prospectus, options booklets, website), ensuring clarity for students and parents.

3) Staff Development, Coaching & Quality Assurance

• Mentor newly qualified, newly appointed, and part‑time staff; ensure effective induction, support, and retention.

• Conduct lesson observations and developmental feedback cycles; implement best practice in inquiry pedagogy, assessment, and classroom management.

• Lead professional learning (CPD/INSET) and foster a coaching culture that shares innovative teaching strategies, digital tools, fieldwork methodologies, and resources.

• Contribute to performance management, teacher check‑ins, appraisals, and probation reviews; encourage action research and professional networks.

4) Pastoral, Inclusion & Student Well‑being

• Promote student engagement and a love for Humanities through inclusive, dynamic lessons and enrichment opportunities.

• Implement effective differentiation for diverse learners, including SEND, EAL, and high‑attaining students; collaborate with inclusion and pastoral teams.

• Encourage discussions on ethical and global issues, fostering students’ critical thinking, cultural awareness, and responsible citizenship.

• Provide targeted academic support (clinics, revision workshops, coursework guidance) for examination cohorts and students needing additional help.

• Uphold a safe, respectful learning environment consistent with RGSPP’s values and behaviour culture.

5) Co‑Curricular, Enrichment & Competitions

• Lead whole‑school Humanities enrichment: debate clubs, Model United Nations (MUN), research seminars, essay competitions, enterprise challenges, and fieldwork.

• Organise engaging events such as guest speaker sessions, history/geography weeks, problem‑solving and case‑study days, and inter‑House competitions.

• Develop partnerships with local and international organisations to provide authentic experiences (museums, NGOs, businesses, universities).

• Encourage participation in national and international competitions related to History, Geography, Business, and global issues.

6) Operational Leadership & Compliance

• Maintain accurate departmental records (assessment data, progress tracking, schemes, policies, fieldwork plans, risk assessments).

• Ensure learning environments meet high standards of safety and compliance; lead H&S for humanities activities, trips, and fieldwork.

• Coordinate with operations and procurement teams for resourcing (textbooks, atlases, maps, GIS subscriptions, archives, case studies, business simulation licences, digital tools).

• Support assemblies, duty cover, calendared events, and emergency procedures as required.

• Contribute to compliance and accreditation processes where Humanities evidence is required.

7) Financial Responsibility & Budget Oversight

• Oversee procurement and maintenance of humanities resources, including textbooks, fieldwork equipment, GIS licences, databases, simulation software, assessment materials, and specialist equipment.

• Work with procurement and operations to ensure timely, compliant purchasing, vendor liaison, inventory control, and lifecycle planning for hardware/software.
